Inside Looking Out

It was predicted that we would get two to four inches of snow. By noon yesterday we had almost eight inches. I had planned to make a trip out. Instead I stayed in, content to look out at the snow while I worked at my sewing machine. The beauty of the room where I now sew is the pair of windows. From where I sit, I look to my left and see our only neighbor ~

and when I look across the room I see the backyard ~

Surrounded by white, I am creating rainbows ~

Sharon; the photos of the snow from inside your warm, cozy home and the thought of you quilting all day makes me wish I could be there with you. Not quilting of course but sipping tea, eating butter cookies, and reading a book curled up on your couch in an afghan.

Sigh.

I like to think that the ambiance of a place where something is created, be it your quilt, writing, painting, cooking, some of the essence of that ambiance finds its way into the finished piece. A very peaceful quilt in the making here, indeed.

And, I second Kate's Sigh.

What a beautiful site to look outside and see winter white and then boom! all that color at your finger tips. I have never quilted but I admire it so much. What a lovely gift for yourself and others.
Peace~
Dawn

What a great post, on several levels (visual impact of the juxtaposed photos, a little essay on life in mid-winter, the symbolism of snow and color and creation.) It's amazing how something so simple can be so thought-provoking, isn't it?

Your quilt is beautiful and I adore that feeling your post captures of being safe and cozy inside while the winter snow falls.

I think the pure white blanket of snow outside our New England windows allows for imaginative color combinations to develop in our sewing rooms and studio spaces. Whether the colors be on paper, canvas, cloth...the colors of words, music or visual art...exquisite rainbows at that cannot remain covered in snow for long!
